MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- Southeastern softball earned their twelfth consecutive win today and advanced their Sun Conference record to a perfect 7-0 after a game-one win over St. Thomas University by a score of 3-0.
Claire Sekinger tossed her sixth complete game of the season, allowing just four hits and striking out six in her seven-inning shutout.
Both offenses were kept silent until the fifth inning when
Haleigh Harrell opened the inning with a double down the right field line. A walk and a sacrifice bunt by
Nicole Wasserstrom advanced Harrell into scoring position for
Kaitlyn Quillen who tallied her fourth RBI of the season with a sacrifice fly into right field.
With two outs in the sixth,
Erica Stahl sent her second long ball of the season over the outfield wall for a 2-0 cushion while Harrell repeated the trend in the seventh, leading off the inning with a solo home run to seal the Fire's 3-0 victory.
The teams will face off again tomorrow in a doubleheader at 12 and 2 p.m. in Miami Gardens.
