LAKELAND, Fla.- After sweeping their first Sun Conference series last week against Webber International, Southeastern softball will head into week two of SUN play today with a road doubleheader at 4 and 6 p.m. against Warner University with the series finale coming tomorrow at 4 p.m.
The Fire (13-8, 3-0 SUN), hold a current eight-game win streak behind a .318 average and have outscored opponents 47-13 over their last eight contests. The recent offensive success has been largely bolstered by senior
Erica Stahl who posted a .481 average with 13 hits and seven RBI's through her last nine contests.
Leah Gonzalez has tallied a team-best eight RBI's in the last nine.
Claire Sekinger has been dominant in her last six appearances, posting a 4-0 record with 31 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched and a miniscule 0.93 ERA.
Autumn Hunter has gone 3-0 with two saves in her last five appearances while
Kenzie Forrester has struck out seven through her last 12 innings of work.
The Royals come into the series with an 8-13 overall record and 1-2 SUN record after dropping their SUN series opener last weekend to Keiser University.
Holding a collective .252 batting average, the Royals offense has been led by Tyler Mooring who leads the team in average (.317), hits (20), doubles (6), and RBI's (8). On the mound, the Royals pitching staff holds a collective ERA of 2.66 with Madalyn Morton's 1.19 ERA leading the staff. Morton leads in the Royals in innings with 70.1, holds a 5-6 overall record, and has struck out 83 batters in her 13 appearances which leads the Sun Conference.
