Men's Hoops Sees Two SUN Contests this Week

LAKELAND, Fla.- Southeastern University men's basketball will prepare for two Sun Conference contests this week as they host Warner University on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and end the week with a contest in Babson Park against Webber International at 4 p.m.
 
The Fire (12-11, 8-3 SUN) hold a current four-game winning streak and have claimed the No. 2 spot in the SUN after taking down receiving votes Thomas University by a narrow 65-62 margin last week on the road.
 
Averaging 75.8 points per game against SUN competitors, the Fire have shot 49.3% from the field through their last four contests and held their opponents to just 38.2% from the field. Riley Minix sits as the conference leader in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and blocked shots as he has tallied a .597 field goal percentage, 22.6 points per conference game, and 17 blocked shots. His 13.7 rebounds per non-conference game ranks him as the top rebounder in the NAIA.
 
Reggie Mesidor sits as the Fire's second leading scorer with 14.8 points per game against SUN opponents and leads the Fire in distance shooting with 31 made shots from beyond the arc (40%). Jalan Mull has connected on over half of his field goal attempts for a .532 average with 37 assists and 13 steals in conference play.
 
The Royals hold a current 11-12 overall record and 4-7 SUN record and are coming off an 89-78 loss against Florida Memorial at home. The offense that averages 74.8 points per game and 46% from the field is led by Logan West who averages 14.8 points per game with a .472 field goal percentage. Joseph Martz is responsible for over one third of the Royals' made shots from distance, connecting on 27 three-point shots for 13.2 points per game. Christian Nurse has been the top rebounder with 7.1 per game.
 
Sitting as the top team in the SUN, the Warriors hold a 15-7 overall record and 8-2 conference record with one of those two SUN losses coming against the Fire by a score of 87-69 in Lakeland earlier this season. In conference play, the Warriors average 81 points per game and 46.5% from the field, largely led by K'Shun Stokes who averages 22.8 points per game with a .507 field goal percentage. Stokes has also posted a three-point percentage of 53% while Orri Hilmarsson leads the three-point shooting with 25 made baskets and a .439 three-point percentage.
