LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern put on quite a show in its first home dual of the season.
The Fire won all 11 matches during the night, registering 26 takedowns and a total of 44 nearfall points in a 45-3 win over Brewton-Parker on Wednesday night.
"I liked our guys getting to their offense and being really mean on top and being really stingy on defense," said coach Travis Patrick.
Just four matches went the distance, or in the case of
Esau Bazilme's victory in the first match of the dual a little longer, coming away with a 10-7 victory in sudden victory.
First period technical falls by
Andrew Voiles and
Parker Dobrocky had the Fire up 21-0 and
Sal Silva was a major decision winner at 157.
The points for the Barons came at 165 with Sean Houston winning by decision. Frank Solorzano came away with a tech in the next match to get the Fire back on track.
"Hammer for us was
Noah Gallardo," said Patrick. "I like the way he's improved and got to his offense and got some turns." Gallardo was a 17-1 winner, picking up a riding time point to get the extra bonus point.
Gentry Smith and
Gabe Jacobs finished the night with first period pins.
"I was happy to see that for Gabe to take a shot one second in and getting to work and ending his first semester on a good note," said Patrick.
The Fire will next compete at the NWCA National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa on January 6th.
