Women's Basketball Hosts New College for Home Opener

LAKELAND, Fla.- Southeastern women's basketball kicked off a two-game week yesterday, taking a 63-51 win over Thomas University on the road to move to 2-1 on the season.
 
The Fire will next host New College of Florida on Saturday for their home opener at 2 p.m.
 
Three games into the season, the Fire currently average 62 points per game behind a .365 field goal percentage and .246 three-point percentage.
 
Graduate student Bekki Kalaydjiev has led the offense thus far, averaging 16 points per game, shooting .356 from the field. Kalaydjiev also leads the Fire in steals with 12 and assists with seven. Anja Knoflach has been the most efficient offensive force for the Fire, posting a team-high field goal percentage of .433 for an average of 11.7 points per game. Anaya Coleman has been the most successful three-point shooter for the offense, going 4-10 from beyond the arc.
 
Defensively, graduate student Rebecca Cook leads the rebounding with 20 rebounds for an average of 6.7 per game. Cook has also recorded three blocks and four steals, averaging 24 minutes per game.
 
The Mighty Banyans of New College of Florida hold a 2-2 record in their startup season. Averaging 60.7 points per game, the Mighty Banyans have shot .409 from the field and .318 from three-point range. Jadyn Lattimore leads the offense with 13.7 points per game behind a .476 field goal percentage while Gracie Hampton averages 12.7 points per game with a .393 field goal percentage and 2-6 effort from three-point range.
 
The defensive effort has been led by Franchesca Derilus who averages 7.7 rebounds per game.
 
This will be the first meeting between Southeastern and New College of Florida in program history.
