LAKELAND, Fla- The women's basketball team is looking to pick up after the break and keep their winning momentum going with three games this week.
The Fire have started the season with a 4-3 record, outscoring their opponents by over 80 points, shooting .389 from field goal range and .291 from behind the three-point line.
Bekki Kalaydjiev leads the Fire with 14 and a half points per game coming into this week. Behind her is
Anja Knoflach and
Anaya Coleman with just under 10 points per game.
Women's basketball opens up the week tonight at home against the University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles, who come into this game with a 1-6 record. The Eagles are shooting .362 from three-point range, and will look to Esther Joseph, who is leading the team with over 14 points per game.
The Fire will then hit the road for the weekend, facing the #1 ranked Campbellsville University Tigers on Thursday, and the Division II University of Cincinnati-Clermont Cougars on Saturday.
The Campbellsville Tigers are out to an impressive 6-0 start, leading the NAIA in points per game with just under 103. The Tigers have three players with over 80 points in six games, and are shooting .407 as a team from behind the three-point line.
UC-Cincinnati enters this week with a 3-2 record. Tyra Murphy leads her team, averaging 26 points a game. Behind her is Olivia Crawford, who averages 12.2 points per game. As a team, the Cougars are averaging around 67 points a game, with a .363 field goal percentage.
