Women's Soccer Hosts National Tournament Opening Round

LAKELAND, Fla.- The Fire women's soccer team will continue their journey to a national championship, starting the tournament off at home, where they will host the Bethel University Wildcats.

Southeastern is coming into this game with an overall 11-5-2 record, earning a #15 seed in the national tournament, after making it all the way to the Sun Conference tournament final.
The Fire are currently outscoring their opponents 45-23 this season, averaging two and a half goals per game, along with a 100% success rate on penalty kicks.

Madelyn Davidson leads the Fire with 10 goals on the season, and right behind her are Katie Carnes and Naira Lopez, with eight and seven goals respectively. Lopez tallied two goals in the Sun Conference semi-final helping the Fire achieve victory over the Bobcats. The Fire also have five players with Sun Conference first and second team honors.

Coming into Saturday's game, the Wildcats are 11-3-2, finishing off their most recent game with a loss in the semi-final game of the Mid-South Conference tournament. The Wildcats have scored 47 goals on the season, with a shot on goal percentage of .548.

The Wildcats will look to rely on a few key players to help them in the national tournament. Audrey LaRue leads the team with 10 goals this season, as well as a team leading six assists. Kalina Stanisic follows closely behind with eight goals and five assists, and Elle Carson with six goals.

Both teams earned their tournament spot with an at-large bid, and this will be the first time in each program's history that the two teams face off.

The Fire and Wildcats will begin play on Saturday, November 18th at 12 P.M.
