LAKELAND, Fla.- Despite being up two goals at halftime, Southeastern women's soccer battled to a 2-2 draw with the No. 6 ranked Bees of SCAD-Savannah to finish as the Sun Conference regular season runner-up.
Southeastern outshot the Bees 8-5 in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead 15 minutes into the contest after Makayla Peddycourt finished her third goal of the season to the near post off a loose ball.
In the 40
th minute,
Danniane Arboleda crossed the ball from the right wing, connecting with
Viktoria Lederer for a header goal to the near post and 2-0 Fire lead.
In the second half, the Fire conceded two goals to the top goal-scorer in the SUN, Sydney Chura, the first one coming 40 seconds into the half after a breakaway run down the middle of the field and shot to far post.
Chura recorded her 16
th of the season in the 70
th minute to tie the contest and secure her team the regular season conference title.
Micaela Owen concluded the contest with six saves.
Southeastern will enter next week's SUN Tournament as the two-seed and will get a bye to the semifinal contest on Tuesday, November 7
th.
