Katie Carnes highlighted a dominating offensive effort by Southeastern women's soccer (10-4-1, 10-2-1 SUN) that earned them their 10
th Sun Conference win of the season.
For the second consecutive contest, the No. 13 ranked Fire found themselves trailing by a goal after the Lions found the back of the net less than three minutes into the contest.
In the 36
th minute,
Danniane Arboleda recorded her second goal in as many games after finishing
Reece O'Neil's first assist of the season to tie the contest.
Carnes took over from there as she would go on to net two goals just six minutes apart. Her first of the day came in the 49
th minute to break the tie after she netted a deep shot into the top right corner. Carnes gave the Fire a 3-1 lead in the 55
th minute off a
Naira Lopez assist with her sixth goal of the season.
Madelyn Davidson moved her season goal total to double digits in the 61
st minute to move the Fire lead to 4-1 off Lopez' second assist of the contest.
Unsatisfied with two, Carnes won a penalty kick in the 66
th minute for her third goal of the contest and a 5-1 lead.
Evelina Von Euler then netted her first goal of the season off an
Ariadna Lozano assist in the 75
th minute to move the lead to five goals and round out the scoring.
Along with the Fire's six goals, the offense also put 10 more on goal for a season-high 16 out of 25 shots.
The defense held the Lions to just nine shots and four on goal.
Madison Songer picked up her first win of the season in goal with three saves.
Southeastern will next battle No. 6 SCAD-Savannah at home on Saturday with the SUN Regular Season championship title on the line.
