Volleyball Falls to No. 23 St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Southeastern women's volleyball fell to No. 23 St. Thomas for the second time this season, moving their record to 17-4 and 8-2 in SUN. 

The Fire lost 3-0 to the Bobcats, knocking down only 26 kills compared to St. Thomas' 45 kills.

The Fire kept things close in set one, trailing just behind the Bobcats the whole set. A kill by Grace Petty got them within two at 24-22, but St. Thomas answered with an Amanda Allende kill to take set one 25-22 from the Fire. 

In set two, the Fire took the lead early, but could never gain momentum after their 11th point. The Bobcats went on a 9-0 run to end the set 25-11. 

The Bobcats jumped ahead 2-0 early on in set three due to a SEU attack error and an Allende kill. Chapel Cunningham answered with a kill, but the Bobcats responded with a three-point run. After a few more runs made by St. Thomas, the Fire could never get things moving offensively and fell short in set three 25-14. 

In the match, Grace Petty led the Fire with eight kills, and Cambry Pope and Emilia Harding both had five kills.

Alexandra Postlethwaite led Southeastern with 22 assists. 

The Fire are back on the road next Wednesday as they travel to Lake Wales to face Warner University at 7 p.m.
