This Week in Fire Athletics 9/16/2023

A big week ahead for Fire athletics as several teams take on top-ranked opponents. 
 

Men's Soccer 

10/18 vs. #17 Keiser at 7 p.m.

10/21 @ Webber International at 3:30 p.m.

Another big week for Fire men's soccer as they matchup against No. 17 Keiser at home. Keiser holds a record of 7-3-4 (6-1-3 SUN). They last matched up in September, where the contest ended in a 1-1 tie. On Saturday, the team will travel to Webber, who is currently 4-8-2 (3-6-1 SUN). The Fire defeated the Warriors in September 3-1 at home. 


Volleyball

10/18 vs. Webber International at 7 p.m.

10/21 @ RV St. Thomas University at 2 p.m.

Fire volleyball holds a 16-3 record (7-1 in SUN) as they take on two more conference opponents this week. They face off against Webber International at home this Wednesday, who they defeated in the last matchup 3-0 in September. Webber holds a 9-9 record (3-5 SUN). On Saturday, the Fire will travel to St. Thomas, who is receiving votes in the national polls with a record of 17-2 and 8-0 in SUN. St. Thomas beat Southeastern in their last matchup 3-1.

Men's & Women's Cross Country 

10/20 at NAIA Appalachian Challenge in Knoxville, TN. 

The men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Tennessee this weekend to compete in the NAIA Appalachian Challenge. The race will be held at Sequoyah Park and will feature a pool of 18 teams. 

  

Women's Soccer 

10/18 @ #18 Keiser at 1:30 p.m. 

10/21 vs. Webber International  at 7 p.m. 

Women's soccer sits at No. 13 in the national rankings this week as they take on No. 18 Keiser University on the road. The Seahawks hold a record of 7-4-3 and 5-3-2 in SUN. In September, the Fire defeated Keiser 2-0 at home. On Saturday, Webber International will come to the SEU Soccer Field in another conference matchup. Southeastern beat Webber in September 2-0, and Webber holds a record of 3-9-1 and 2-7-1 in SUN play.

Football 

10/21 @ #8 Keiser University @ 6 p.m.

The Fire are coming off a 34-20 win over SUN conference opponent Thomas University. This week, they will face No. 8 Keiser University on the road. In their last meeting, Keiser won the contest 40-14. Currently, Keiser holds a 4-2 record with notable wins over No. 9 Lindsey Wilson 30-26 and No. 16 St. Thomas 21-14. Their only losses on the season have come from NCAA DIII programs. As a team, Keiser is averaging 33 points per game and giving up an average of 20 points per game. 

Women's Golf and Men's Golf 

10/15, 10/16, 10/7 at Gyrene Invite @ Ave Maria 

Fire men's and women's golf travel to Ave Maria to take on SUN conference opponents. The women's golf team is currently No. 7 in the national polls. The men's team sits at No. 11 nationally.

10/16 - EA Sports FC '24

10/19 - Madden 


The Fire esports team will compete tonight in EA Sports FC. On Thursday night, they will compete in Madden.
