LAKELAND, Fla. - After a successful season in Rocket League, SEU's
Winston Haynes has been named the Sun Conference Player of the Year, and
Tyler Kennedy the Sun Conference Esports Champion of Character.
"Winston has been a cornerstone of our Rocket League program since his freshman year, and it's been incredible to watch his growth season after season," said head coach
Ethan Cadore. "He plays with passion, leads with integrity, and consistently models the values we hold dear in Fire Esports—character, commitment, competition, and community. Being named Sun Conference Player of the Year is a well-earned honor for someone who gives his all, in and out of the arena."
Haynes and the Rocket League team were perfect this season in Sun Conference play, and did so without dropping a single match or point. The success of the team led to a second consecutive Sun Conference tournament title.
Kennedy, the Sun Conference Champion of Character honoree, is dedicated to academics, with a 3.6 GPA as a Pre-Med major. He also gives back to his community by volunteering as a coach at the Lakeland Swans Soccer Club, mentoring the younger generation.
"Tyler is an ideal candidate for this award," said Cadore. "His impact has been felt every day, as he has a deep understanding of the game and the ability to elevate the intensity and focus at practice. He is an invaluable part of our team, and being named Champion of Character is a perfect reflection of the leadership and heart he brings to this program."
