Women's Soccer Defeats No. 17 St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - An early goal fueled things offensively for Southeastern in a 3-1 win over St. Thomas and advances them to 7-3-1 and 7-1-1 in SUN. 

In the first half, Katie Carnes got things going early for Southeastern with a goal in the first minute of play, making it her second goal of the season. St. Thomas remained scoreless in the first half with 13 shots in the half alone. Micaela Owen had seven saves in the first half to keep the Bobcats off the board. 

Naira Lopez sank her fourth goal of the season in the 54th minute of play to advance the lead 2-0 over the Bobcats. The goal was assisted by Ramsey Watkins

Just six minutes later, Madelyn Davidson scored to advance the lead 3-0 in the 60th minute, assisted by Danniane Arboleda. It was Davidson's team-leading sixth goal of the season. 

St. Thomas (8-1-2, 5-1-2 SUN) got on the board in the second half off a goal by Cristina Blaya San Pedro in the 60th minute of the contest. 

Owen finished the game with 16 saves. 

The Fire had ten shots in the contest compared to St. Thomas's 26 shots. 

Southeastern will take on Warner University at home on Saturday at 1 p.m.
