LAKELAND, Fla.- For the second time this season, junior
Parker Dobrocky has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week after going 3-1 at the NWCA National Duals with all three wins coming over ranked opponents and NAIA All-Americans.
Third-ranked Dobrocky took down No. 8 Bryce Nickel of the University of the Cumberlands to open the tournament with a 14-3 major decision, breaking the 3-3 tie against the Patriots.
Against Marian University, the 141-pounder picked up yet another ranked victory after taking down No. 5 ranked Logan Wagner with a 9-4 win.
The following day, Dobrocky took a sudden victory win over NAIA All American Jody McAlister from Life University to move to 3-0 on the weekend.
The junior would go on to drop his only contest to the three-time national champion, Baterdene Bolmaa from Doane University after nearly snapping the 141-pounder's 88-match win streak. Dobrocky managed a takedown at the end of the second period to bring the match within a point but a third period escape by Bolmaa was the difference in the narrow 9-7 loss.
Dobrocky and the Fire will be back in action this weekend as they host St. Thomas University and Keiser University on Saturday for the Florida Duals.
