LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Southeastern lost its semifinal match at the NWCA National Team Duals and settled for fourth place with a loss to No. 4 Doane.
The Fire dropped its first dual to Life 23-12 and the third place match by the score of 24-11.
In the semifinal, the Fire lost their first two matches by three total points with third-ranked
Isaac Crowell dropping a 7-5 decision to second-ranked Brandon Orum at 125. Isaac Lopez battled third-ranked Jacob Ruiz at 133, dropping a 2-1 decision which was basically decided on a locked-hands technical violation by Lopez.
Parker Dobrocky was a winner in sudden victory after Jody McAlister scored a takedown late in the third period and eliminated Dobrocky's riding time bonus.
Stephen Kelle picked up a 3-1 decision at 174, and
Gabe Jacobs was a winner by forfeit.
Dobrocky took the mat against Doane with his team down 8-0 and battled three-time national champion Baterdene Boldmaa, getting a takedown at the end of the second period to get within a point, but an escape by Bolmaa at the start of the third period gave him his 89
th consecutive victory.
Trace Braun got the Fire their first win of the match with a 6-2 decision over Tristan Zamilpa at 157. Fourth-ranked
Stephen Kelle came up just short in sudden victory against fifth-ranked Chinges Tsermaa at 174.
Trillyon Fils-Aime and
Gage Braun closed the weekend with a 4-1 decision and a 26-10 technical fall, respectively.
The Fire will be back in action next Saturday at home, hosting the Florida Duals against St. Thomas and Keiser.
