Fire Unable to Overcome Cold First Half Shooting in Loss to Bobcats

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- Southeastern dropped to 8-10 and 4-3 in Sun Conference play today with a 66-48 loss to St. Thomas University on the road after a sluggish offensive first half resulted in the Bobcats' leading for 35 minutes of the contest.

The Fire struggled to grab any sort of offensive momentum in the first half as they would shoot a collective 24% from the field and convert just one of their 14 shots from distance, concluding the half trailing the Bobcats 26-18. The Bobcats would just slightly outdo the Fire on the offensive front as they would go 26.5% from the field and 22% from distance.

The offense warmed up in the second half as they would shoot 40% (12-30) from the field and 43% (6-14) from three-point range but were unable to repair the damage done in the first half. The home team would also come out of the locker room strong, going 13-28 from the field (46%) and 6-11 from distance (54.5%). A perfect 12-12 effort from the line by the Bobcats would also aid them to the 66-48 victory over the Fire.

Southeastern would conclude the contest shooting 31% from the field with Riley Minix leading the scoring with 19 points. Minix also tallied a team-high three assists and four blocks while Sean Shore led defensively with 11 rebounds.
