BRUNSWICK, Ga. - The Southeastern Fire men's basketball team improved to 12-11, (8-3 SUN) on the season after their 75-62 win over Sun Conference opponent Coastal Georgia.

The Fire found themselves trailing early as the Mariners were able to capitalize on offense, leading 16-8. The Mariners were doing a good job earning more possessions by forcing the Fire to turnover the ball. Riley Minix responded with two back-to-back three-pointers to end the Mariner run to put the Fire back within two. The Fire went on to score five more points to take the lead with a layup by Joshua Blazquez and a third three-pointer for Minix with 11:14 remaining. Both teams would then trade buckets all the way up to the half to where Southeastern was able to hang onto the lead 39-36.Â

At the half, Southeastern shot 45.2% from the field, 45.5 from the three-point line, and 100% from the free throw line making 6-6.Â

Coming out of the half, the Fire put together a series of good defensive stops and converted them into points on the other end. SEU pulled away from the Mariners to lead 48-37 within the first eight minutes of play. The Fire lead ultimately was too much to overcome for the Mariners as the Fire continued to convert stops into points.Â

Southeastern improved their offense in the second half shooting 48.1% from the field, 50% from behind the arc, and 78.9% from the free throw line.Â

Minix led all players with his double-double performance of 38 points and 12 rebounds. Minix added three steals (tied game-high) and two assists.Â

Reggie Messidor led the Fire in assists with six, tied the game-high in steals with three and was the team's second leading scorer with 16. Blazquez added 13 points and five rebounds.Â
