Wrestling Looks to Stay Hot against Bluefield

LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern has a chance to move to 9-0 at The Fire Pit this season and pick up its 11th dual victory of the season Friday night when it hosts the Rams of Bluefield at 7 p.m.

The Fire have been strong since the calendar flipped to 2023, posting a fourth-place finish at the NWCA Duals, a convincing sweep of the Florida Duals, and a third-place finish at the Missouri Valley Invitational last weekend.

Gabe Jacobs has added a spark to the lineup, transferring in at semester and winning the Missouri Valley Invitational at 285 last weekend and doing so with relative ease. The Gulf Breeze native is already ranked sixth in the NAIA Top 25 and was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week on Monday.

Southeastern has won nine-straight matches at The Fire Pit, which is the longest home win streak in program history. Individually, SEU wrestlers are 61-19 (.763) at home this season.

Bluefield is in search of their first dual victory of the season after going 0-2 against West Virginia Tech and Patrick & Henry Community College. The Rams have participated in three open tournaments as well, highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the King Open by heavyweight Kobe Thornton.
