Two Road SUN Contests Ahead for Women's Hoops

LAKELAND, Fla.- Southeastern women's basketball will look to take the momentum of three consecutive Sun Conference victories into a two-contest week beginning on Thursday as they head to Thomasville, Ga. on Thursday for a 5:30 p.m. contest against Thomas University. On Saturday, the Fire will take on the College of Coastal Georgia at 2 p.m. in Brunswick, Ga.

The Fire hold a current 9-10 overall record and 6-3 SUN record and average 73.5 points per game in conference contests. From the field, the Fire are shooting 41% while holding a .329 three-point percentage. Gabby Suarez leads the offense with 16.7 points per game while Josselin Geer averages 14.2 points per game behind a team-best .520 field goal percentage and is coming off a 22-point performance against the Gyrenes last week. Anja Knoflach has been the most successful Fire shooter from distance, posting a three-point percentage of .365 against SUN opponents.

The Night Hawks come into the weekend as the last team in the SUN, holding a 1-17 overall record and still searching for their first conference win with an 0-9 SUN record. The offense averages 53 points per game behind a .320 effort from field goal range while their 18.7 turnovers per game has contributed to their losing record. Lenise Santiago averages 16.5 points per game while Dejah Wilson's 10.8 rebounds per game leads the defense.

Southeastern and Thomas met earlier this season with the Fire taking the 80-60 victory over the Night Hawks.

The Mariners (4-15, 2-7 SUN) are looking to lengthen a three-game winning streak this weekend after taking down Thomas, Keiser, and the University of Fort Lauderdale. Collectively, the Mariners average 36% from the field for 63.3 points per game. Sonia Forney leads the offense with 16.3 per game behind a .459 field goal percentage while Joyce Jordan averages 16.1 per contest and a team-best 8.4 rebounds per game.
