LAKELAND, Fla.—Three collegiate wrestling teams from the state of Florida will gather at The Fire Pit this evening for the Florida Duals.
Southeastern will host Keiser and St. Thomas for three matches starting at 4 p.m. with St. Thomas taking on Keiser followed by SEU and St. Thomas at 5:30, and finally Southeastern and Keiser at 7 p.m.
The Fire are 6-0 at The Fire Pit this season and are 8-3 in duals overall, coming off a program-best fourth-place finish at the NWCA National Duals last weekend. The last eight matches the Fire have wrestled have been against teams ranked in the Top 20.
Southeastern is the most established of the three programs in the Sunshine State, having started participation in 2015 and are a combined 8-0 all-time against its in-state rivals.
Keiser comes in at 3-3 in dual matches this year, and knocked off St. Thomas 26-18 on October 27
th in West Palm Beach. Patrick Gould leads the Seahawks with a 13-2 record at 141, where he's ranked 12
th nationally. Adam El Damir has compiled a 10-4 record this season at 165. Earnest Johnson is another Seahawk to keep an eye on, ranked 11
th at 285 with an 8-4 record.
St. Thomas is 6-4 this season in duals with the highlight coming December 17
th in a 33-15 win over No. 16 Baker in Kansas City. Most recently, the Bobcats downed Brewton-Parker 39-5 last Friday. Noah Horst is ranked 22
nd at 149 and Buck Abidin checks in at 23
rd in the 174 pound rankings.
