Fire Grab Second Consecutive Shutout

LAKELAND, Fla.- In an offensive heavy 9-0 victory over the Trinity College Tigers, the Southeastern University men's soccer team advanced to 4-2-2 on the season with their second consecutive shutout.

The Fire defense held the Tigers shotless for the entirety of the 90 minutes, getting off 48 total shots of their own, 24 of which were on goal.

The scoring started early with a goal by Lucas Nishioka in just the second minute of play while Nishioka would go on to also assist on the next two Fire goals, one in the fourth minute off a diving header by Vittorio Sasso and another just two minutes later off the foot of Chris Thorpe.

After a quick 3-0 lead, the Fire would be quieted for the next 20 minutes until Marcello Cruz found the net in the 27th minute for the Fire's fourth goal.

Out of the locker room, Caio Guazzelli took an assist by Marcello Cruz and turned it in for the Fire's fifth goal, just four minutes into the half.

Kory Nekoloff would be the sixth individual for the Fire to record a goal in the 53 minute thanks to an assist by Nico Munari.

It took less than 30 seconds for AJ Davis to add two more to the Fire's total, drawing the keeper out and chipping a shot over his head for his first goal of the game and would follow it up with another goal 19 seconds later.

Cuyler Brine would secure the Fire's 9-0 victory with his first goal of the season with just two minutes remaining in regulation.

Carlos Curado advanced to 2-0-1 on the season with the victory in goal.

The Fire will open Sun Conference play next week with a road contest against Webber International on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
