LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southeastern University Fire ended their road trip to Georgia today with a 4-2 loss to the #12 ranked Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies, moving their record to 2-2-2.
In the first half, The Fire were trailing early with a cross that ended in a header for the Grizzlies to put Georgia Gwinnett up 1-0 in the 25th minute. In the first half the Fire only had a single shot on goal compared to the Grizzlies seven.
In the second half, the Fire evened the score rather quickly with a header from Gianluca Contengno, assisted by
Vittorio Sasso in the 50th minute. The Fire kept on the aggressive side with six total shots on goal in the second half forcing the Grizzlies goalie to make a pair of saves.
The Grizzlies responded with three goals, with two coming within two minutes of each other. Fire trailing 4-1 tried to rally and even the score but ultimately ran out of time with the last goal of the game coming from
Antonio Marra in the 87th minute.
Southeastern will return home to host Florida College this Monday, September 12th at 7 p.m. at the SEU Soccer Complex.
