Volleyball Sweeps Second Day at Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala.—Southeastern went 2-0 to end a five-game losing streak with a 3-2 comeback win over Reinhardt and a 3-1 win over Mobile to get to 3-5 on the season.  
 
Against Reinhardt, the Fire trailed 2-1 after dropping the second and third sets 25-19 each but was able to turn things around in the fourth set, generating 41 attacks resulting in 15 kills and a .220 attacking percentage to stave off elimination with a 25-22 win to force the fifth set.
 
Sophomore Chapel Cunningham was a big catalyst in the tie breaker, generating three kills and a block in the 15-8 win. Cunningham finished with seven kills, three blocks, and four digs.
 
Grace Petty had a team-best 16 kills and added a team-best 18 digs. Emily Eurice had a team-best 22 assists.
 
Against Mobile, the Fire were beneficiaries of 10 attack errors in the first set to pick up a 25-14 win. Things flipped around in the second as the Rams racked up 17 kills against just two errors and the Fire had seven errors and 11 kills as Mobile won 25-15 in the second.
 
Things started to click for SEU in the third and it posted 16 kills and a .245 success rate to take the set 25-23 after trailing 17-15.
 
The fourth was dominated by the Fire, with Petty registering five of her 15 kills in the last half of the fourth set in a 25-11 win which saw the Red and Black post a .324 hitting percentage. Petty also added 13 digs on defense. The early momentum of the set came from Sylvia Liszewski with five of her match-best 16 kills.
 
Alexandra Postlethwaite had a match-high 27 assists. On defense, Holly Kaczmarek led four players in double figures in digs with 17. Emery Wyatt and Chloe Rhodes had 14 each. Cunningham led the defense at the net with five total blocks.
 
The Fire will head to Williamsburg, Ky. next weekend for the Cumberlands Invitational.
