WINONA LAKE, Ind.- The Southeastern University Fire rounded out their trip north today with a 3-0 loss to the Grace College Lancers, moving to 1-1-1 on the season.
In the first period, Fire keeper Jonathan Wojcicki was forced to face his fourth penalty kick in just two contests after a foul by the Fire in the box in the 28
th minute. The Lancers were able to find the back left corner to take the 1-0 lead. Wojcicki recorded three saves in the first 45 minutes while the Fire managed to get off four shots, one on goal.
The Lancers needed only two minutes out of the locker room to take a 2-0 lead with a cross from the right side of the pitch that was placed into the upper right corner of the net. The two-goal lead was advanced to three in the 71
st minute when a corner kick found the foot of David Marquez who placed it into the upper right corner.
SEU got off 15 shots including 11 in the second period alone to outshoot the Lancers 15-12 while the Lancers out did the Fire in shots on goal 8-4. Wojcicki concluded the contest with five saves.
The Fire will return home for their next contest on September 3
rd as they host No. 14 Lindsey Wilson at 7 p.m.
