Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern struggled to get its offense going in its first home game of the 2022 season.
The Fire lost 3-0 to Florida College Tuesday night, falling to 1-3 on the season.
Florida College (3-2) came out strong in the first set, totaling 19 kills and a .405 attacking percentage in a 25-19 win closing the set on a 6-2 run.
It seemed like the Fire were back in the match during the second set, coming back from an early 4-1 deficit to take a 15-12 lead thanks to long runs at the service line by
Emily Eurice and
Emery Wyatt. However, Florida College came back with an 8-0 run to end the set after trailing 19-17 with half of those points coming on attack errors by the Fire to win 25-19.
The Falcons controlled the third set, holding a 22-11 lead but the Fire were able to come up with a late run led by three straight kills by
Grace Petty to make it 22-17. The Falcons closed the match with the final three points to close the match.
Southeastern totaled 19 attacking errors and just a .111 attacking percentage and had five errors at the service line.
Florida College posted a .294 hitting percentage and were paced by Emma Noskey's 17 kills and 15 digs.
For the Fire,
Sylvia Liszewski had 11 kills to lead the offense.
Alexandra Postlethwaite had a team-best 17 assists. On defense,
Holly Kaczmarek had a game-high 18 digs.
The Fire return to action on Friday at the Faulkner Invitational in Montgomery, Ala.
