LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Southeastern University freshman
Riley Sanders is the winner of a pair of national awards from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
The Fort Myers native was selected as the New Balance/NFCA Golden Shoe Award winner after stealing 74 bases on 75 attempts this season and was successful in each of her last 57 attempts.
In addition to being a unanimous NFCA First-Team All-American, Sanders was also named the NAIA Freshman of the Year after hitting .383 with a .424 on-base percentage. Sanders also posted four doubles and three triples during her rookie campaign.
The Fire posted a record of 52-13 this season, advancing to the NAIA Softball World Series and finishing fourth.
