LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.- A complete game shutout by sophomore
Autumn Hunter propelled the Southeastern University softball team to their second win of the tournament and a shot at the NAIA Opening Round championship after securing the 4-0 victory over Saint Xavier University.
In the first inning, an error set up an RBI double situation for
Haleigh Harrell, giving her team the early 1-0 lead.
The Fire would go on to score three more in the third after a two-run double by
Erica Stahl and an RBI single by
Ashley Ellison.
The four runs in the first three innings would prove to be enough for the victory as
Autumn Hunter would go on to strikeout six batters advance her overall record to 15-4.
Chapel Cunningham and Harrell both collected two hits with Stahl collecting a team-leading two RBI's.
The top-seeded Fire will now advance to the Opening Round championship game tomorrow at 12 p.m. with the if-necessary game at 2:30.
