LAKELAND, Fla.- The No. 21 ranked Southeastern University softball team will head into their second week of Sun Conference play this week as they travel to Thomasville, Georgia to take on the receiving votes Night Hawks on Monday at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader on Tuesday at 12 and 2 p.m. The 19-4 Fire will then travel back home to take on St. Thomas with game on taking place Friday at 4 p.m. and games two and three falling on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.
The Fire recently etched their names in the history books with a record breaking 13-game winning streak after sweeping the three game conference series against Ave Maria this weekend.
Week two of conference kicks off against the Night Hawks who currently hold a 14-8 overall record and 1-2 SUN record after dropping two to Webber International by scores of 8-1 and 3-0. As a team, the Night Hawks hold a .307 batting average with 80 doubles, 12 triples, and 11 home runs for a slugging percentage of .417 for an average of 9.2 runs per contest. So far this season, Adreanna Killingsworth leads the offensive charge with a .444 BA behind seven doubles, three home runs, 23 RBI's, and 12 runs scored. On the mound, Larran Carter has been the ace arm with a team high 93 innings pitched and has recorded 83 strikeouts, a 10-3 record, and an ERA of 2.86.
The Bobcats of St. Thomas start off the week with an even 9-9 record and 1-2 record in SUN play after dropping two to Warner University, one in eight innings. The team from Miami Gardens, Fla. holds a .281 collective average with 24 doubles and nine home runs and average just over four runs scored per game. Deavyn McDade sits at the top of most offensive categories for the Bobcats with a .382 average, eight RBI's, and seven doubles. The Bobcat pitching staff has been led by Erica Winter who has gone a team high 41.2 innings and posted a 2.38 ERA behind a 5-1 record, 27 strikeouts, and 11 earned runs allowed.
The Fire were recently voted in the Top 25 and begin the week with a 19-4 overall record largely due to their 6.5 runs scored per game and collective .334 BA. The Fire also hold a .449 slugging percentage behind 10 home runs and 37 doubles with a lineup that has six different player hitting over .350.
Erica Stahl has been the top bat thus far this season with a .435 average, nine doubles and four home runs while senior
Katie Atkins leads the team in RBI's with 24 and holds an average of .387. Graduate transfer
Jamie Mead has been the most consistent base runner for the Fire with a .519 OBP behind a team high 15 walks and a .373 average.
The Fire also start the week ranked fourth nationally in stolen bases with 79 as
Riley Sanders leads the team with 18 and
Madison Williams collecting 17.
The youthful pitching staff for the Fire has recorded a collective 2.5 ERA and averages 5.1 strikeouts per seven innings. Last year's ace arm in
Autumn Hunter has collected a team high 49 innings and 2.29 ERA while freshman
Claire Sekinger has gone 44.1 innings and posted a 1.58 ERA, 6.3 K's per seven innings and allowed only 10 earned runs. Freshman
Kenzie Forrester has also been efficient on the mound as she leads the staff in strikeouts per seven innings with nearly seven with 24 strikeouts in 24.1 innings.
