Contest Against Second Place SUN Team Highlights Week for Women's Basketball

LAKELAND, Fla- After advancing their win streak to 18 with two more wins last week, the 21-1 Southeastern University women's basketball team will face off against both cross-country rivals this week as they travel to Warner University on Thursday for a 5:30 p.m. contest and will finish the week with a home contest against Webber University on Saturday at 5 p.m.

The Fire and the Royals met in December of this season where the Fire took a 93-47 victory with Raegan Linster led the team with 16 points after going 4-11 from three point range. The Royals come into the week with an 8-11 overall record and 3-8 Sun Conference record and are coming off of a two-loss week as they fell to St. Thomas University and Florida Memorial. On average, the Royals record 68.2 points per game and have maintained a field goal percentage of 43%. The top two teams in the conference in the Warriors and the Fire will then face off for the second time this season after the Fire took the 72-64 win over the Warriors back in December. The Warriors are on a seven game win streak after posting a 16-4 record (8-2 SUN) but will face their only two SUN losses this week as they take on Keiser University and the Fire. The Warriors collect 76.6 points per contest and shoot a collective 41.4% from the field and 32.9% from three-point average. The Fire continue to be ranked near the top of the national rankings offensively with their 48.6 field goal percentage coming in at No. 2 and their 37.7 three point percentage coming in at No. 4. Angela Perry has yet to run into a competitor that has an answer for her offensively as she has recorded 431 points for an average of 19.5 points per game while also grabbing a team high 143 rebounds. Marta Aranda's 241 points comes in at second on the Fire unit while her 64 steals ranks her in the top 10 nationally.
