Women's Basketball Silenced by Tar Defense

WINTER PARK, Fla.- Southeastern women's basketball team fell to 6-6 on the season last night with a 73-48 loss to Division II program, Rollins College after being held to just a 30% effort from the field and 4-21 effort from distance (19%).
 
After the first 10 minutes, the Fire found themselves trailing the Tars 19-7 after the Tars shot 47% and began the game on a 13-0 run. The Fire shot just 20% from the field in the first period.
 
The Fire would slightly tip the scales in the second period, outscoring the Tars 13-9 after the Tars offense went silent. Gabby Suarez would tally eight of the Fire's 13 points in the second quarter after four made free throws and two good jumpers. Southeastern would go into the locker room trailing the home team 28-20.
 
The best quarter in the field for the Fire came in the third as they would go 6-14 from midrange but would still be outscored 22-15. Suarez would drop another eight points in the third.
 
The final period would conclude with the Tars outscoring the visiting team 23-13 after a .278 effort from midrange and 2-9 effort from distance by the Fire.
 
Suarez would conclude the contest as the game's leading scorer with 23 points while Josselin Geer led the defense with 12 rebounds.
 
The Fire will be back in action against No. 3 ranked Carrol College at home on December 20th.
