LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern looks to move to 2-1 in dual matches this season with a Friday night tilt against Montreat College at The Fire Pit.
The Fire battled tough competition two weeks ago, dropping a dual to NCAA Division II Lander University in South Carolina, then traveling to the Wrestlers in Business Network Life U Open in Georgia going against top wrestlers at every level.
Southeastern in 9-2 at The Fire Pit since the 2020-21 season with the losses to No. 3 Reinhardt by five in 2020 and No. 2 Life by eight last season.
This will be just the second meeting between the Fire and the Cavaliers with the two teams meeting last year at the Seahawk Duals in West Palm Beach. Southeastern won the dual 27-15 with five of its six wins getting bonus points.
Montreat has yet to participate in a dual match this season. The Cavaliers have been part of the Patriot Open, Georgia Open, and Life U Open which the Fire also participated in.
Freshman Grant Trotter finished fourth at the Patriot Open in the Freshman/Sophomore 285 bracket and reached the semis for the Freshman/Sophomore 285 at the Life U Open.
Before SEU's match, The Fire Pit will play host to a high school dual between Lake Gibson and Palm Harbor. This is the second year in a row the Fire have played host to a Lake Gibson dual with the Braves defeating Venice last year 45-32.
