Men's Hoops Heads to The Show This Weekend

LAKELAND, Fla.- The 3-3 Southeastern men's basketball team will spend the weekend in Kingsport, Tn. as they compete in The Show with a Saturday contest against Shawnee State University at 2:30 p.m. and a Sunday contest against Freed-Hardeman University at 12:45 p.m.
 
The Fire will also compete in an exhibition on Wednesday at 3 p.m. against Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla.
 
Southeastern most recently dropped a Sun Conference contest to Thomas University by a score of 82-74 as they now average 82.7 point per contest. From the field, the Fire are shooing 48% with Riley Minix's .597 field goal percentage leading the Fire. From distance, the Fire have posted a .338 three-point percentage with Reggie Mesidor posting a team-best 46% from beyond the arc. Mesidor's 101 points also leads the Fire. Sean Shore and Minix both average a double-double with Shore averaging 12 points and 11.5 rebounds per game and Minix averaging 28 points and 16.7 rebounds per contest. The greatest struggle for the Fire thus far this season has been their free throws as they have shot 63% from the line.
 
The Bears of Shawnee State hold a 2-4 record heading into the week and are coming off a narrow 72-67 loss to No. 14 ranked Marian University. Collectively, the Bears average 75 points per game behind a .413 field goal percentage and .336 three-point percentage. Junior Brandon Beavers leads the offense with 81 points, posting a field goal percentage of 43%. Tre Beard has found success from beyond the arc, tallying a three-point percentage od 56% after going 10-18 from distance. Felix Uadiale's 54 rebounds leads the defense while Tre Baumgardner has posted team highs in assists (21) and steals (13).
 
The Freed-Hardeman Lions hold a 3-2 record with losses coming against No. 11 Faulkner and LSU Alexandria. Averaging 83.8 points per game, the Bears have posted a 52.9 field goal percentage and 35.1 three-point percentage. Hunter Scurlock has tallied 66 points for the team-high with a field goal percentage of 60% while Brandon Thomas' 33 rebounds leads the defense.
 
This will be just the second meeting between the Fire and the Lions with the Lions taking the 96-88 victory back in the 2020 season.
