LAKELAND, Fla.- In the Fire's first home Sun Conference contest of the season, the No. 9 ranked Southeastern University Fire defeated the receiving votes St. Thomas University Bobcats by a score of 2-1 to move to 8-1-1 on the season.
The Bobcats got on the board first after Sarolta Oppelland converted a corner kick by Anna-Lena Stein in the 14
th minute of play.
Despite outshooting the Bobcats eight to one, the Fire would need 40 minutes to grab their first goal when
Ariadna Lozano took a cross from
Madelyn Davidson and put it into the bottom right corner to tie the contest just five minutes before the end of the half.
Just 10 minutes after subbing onto the pitch,
Hanna Ryberg took yet another assist from Davidson and put it into the upper left portion of the goal, claiming the 2-1 Fire lead in the 77
th minute.
The 2-1 lead would hold for the entirety of the contest, earning the Fire's eighth win of the season.
The Fire will be back in action on October 13
th in Babson Park to take on Webber International at 4 p.m.
