Women's Soccer Hosts Another NAIA Top 15 Matchup this Week

LAKELAND, Fla.- For the second week in a row, the No. 10 ranked Southeastern University women's soccer team will host a weekend NAIA Top 25 matchup with the week beginning with a home contest against Warner University on Thursday at 7 p.m. and a 7 p.m. contest against the No. 12 ranked SCAD-Savannah on Saturday.
 
The Fire hold a current overall record of 9-2-2 and 3-1-1 in the Sun Conference and begin the week with a 3.15 goal per game average and 16.6 shot per game average. Out of the 41 collective goals for the Fire offense, Naira Lopez has been a part of 12, netting nine of her own and assisting on three others. The Fire's next leader in offensive production has been Karissa King who currently sits at four goals and three assists on the season. Defensively, the Fire are allowing 1.08 goals per contest behind a .754 save percentage from Holly Eddins who has accumulated 43 saves on 57 shots faced and four shutouts.
 
The Royals begin the week with a 4-4-3 overall record (1-2 SUN) and average four goals per contest with 10 total and a .255 shot percentage which currently ranks fourth in the NAIA. Junior Gabriela Vargas has found the net the most for the Royals, registering seven goals and two assists. The Royal defense averages 2.2 goals allowed per contest with Gabrielle Barnette and Cora Perez splitting time between the posts. In seven contests, Perez has recorded a .750 save percentage with 24 saves while Barnette currently holds a save percentage of .702 with 33 saves.
 
The Bees rank among the Top 10 in the NAIA in multiple categories including shots, shots per game, goals scored, shots on goal, and assists. Their 344 total shots ranks 7th nationally while their 22.9 shots per game comes in at 8th. The Bees have found the back of the net 66 times in just 15 games (3rd nationally) and have accumulated 58 assists (3rd nationally). Largely contributing to the offensive success has been Ines Sommer and Abigail Sidall, the Sun Conference's top two leading goal scorers. Sommer has been a part of 21 Bee goals, scoring 14 and assisting on seven while Siddall has recorded 13 goals and seven assists while Berglin Balsdursdottir currently sits at third in the NAIA in assists with 14. In the past five games, the Bees have outscored their opponents 32-0 with Zoe Goodale recording 31 saves on 40 shots faced for a 10-0-1 overall record.
