Errors Deem Too Costly for the Fire in West Palm Beach

Box Score

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Southeastern volleyball team ultimately dropped their Sun Conference matchup 3-0 against Keiser University.

The Fire started set one with some momentum carried over from last night's 3-0 victory over Coastal Georgia and started today's matchup leading by as much as six over the Seahawks. The Fire led 14-8 and rescinded the lead with a handful of costly errors. Keiser came from behind to take the first set 25-20.

Set two saw the Fire get off to a slow start to where they found themselves trailing 10-2. Keiser showed no signs of slowing down and ultimately took the set 25-14.

The third and final set seemed to even out the momentum sum as the Fire kept it close for the majority of the set trailing by only one with a score of 9-8. The Seahawks got the hot hand and extended their lead to seven going on a 6-0 run. Southeastern found themselves in a situation where they had to play near perfect to be able to complete the comeback but unfortunately the deficit was too large to overcome dropping the final set 25-18.

Emilia Harding led the game with a .750 hitting percentage and tallied in nine kills. Aly Postletwaite led the team in assists with 15, Ryanne VanWyk added 11. Holly Kazmaek tied the game high with 14 digs.

Southeastern will return to action this Wednesday, October 19th at 7 p.m. to host Ave Maria.
