LAKELAND, Fla.—A big night on offense helped Southeastern come away with a 3-0 win over Florida College in SEU's volleyball home opener Tuesday night.
Freshman
Kennedy Jones led the way with a match-best 15 kills, hit .270, and added nine digs and two aces.
The Fire started slow and were actually down a set point in the first at 25-24, but the Fire won the next three points on kills by
Emilia Harding and Jones, and an FC attack error to win 27-25.
That momentum carried into the second where the Fire won seven of the first eight rallies with six of those points coming on kills. As a team in the second, SEU hit .235 with 16 kills and cruised to a 25-20 win.
Southeastern upped the attack even more in the third, registering 17 kills with just three errors for a .341 attacking percentage. Additionally, the Fire held Florida College to just nine kills and a .111 attacking percentage to come away with a 25-15 win and secure the match.
Jordyn Stiger added nine kills and a .444 attack percentage and had three solo blocks on defense.
Chapel Cunningham was also part of three blocks.
In the back row, Ally Postlethwaite had nine digs to go along with her match-best 38 assists.
Holly Kaczmarek added eight digs, as did
Brooke Henry.
This is just the second time in eight all-time wins over Florida College the Fire won in straight sets.
