LAKELAND, Fla.- The Southeastern University volleyball team continued to impress in day two of the NCCAA Volleyball South Region Kickoff. The Fire downed both the Trinity Baptist College Eagles in their first contest and Toccoa Falls College Screaming Eagles in their second in three sets. SEU finished the invitational a perfect 4-0 and did not drop a set on the weekend.

MATCH ONE:
The first set was the most competitive between the Fire and the Eagles, as there were nine ties or lead changes between the two teams within the first 13 points. However, the Fire used a 13-3 run to open a 18-9 advantage.

Seven different players had a kill for Southeastern in the first set, as the Fire closed out the session on a 6-0 run to win 25-12.

The second set was one of utter dominance by SEU. The Fire opened it up on a 16-0 run, fueled largely by freshman setter
Alexandra Postlethwaite recording six service aces during that stretch. The Fire hit .463 as a team in the set and ultimately won it 25-2 to go up 2-0 on TBC.

Southeastern closed out the match with a hitting clinic, recording 19 kills and just one error in 28 attacks. SEU cemented the shutout with a 25-8 win in the third set.

Emilia Harding led the Fire with nine kills and three blocks in the match.
Angelina Vaccaro had a team-best 17 assists.
Holly Kaczmarek led the squad in digs at 12.

MATCH TWO:

Freshman
Kennedy Jones led the way in the attack for Southeastern versus Toccoa Falls, leading all players with 14 kills. Jones got off to a solid start with four kills in the first set, as the Fire took the session 25-15.

SEU hit a remarkable .500 in the second set, notching 14 kills and committing just two errors in 24 attempts. The Fire pulled together a crucial 8-0 run mid-set to take an 18-9 lead.

Freshman
Chapel Cunningham recorded two of her game-high five blocks in the second set. SEU took the second set from TFC 25-10.
Jones tacked on four more kills in the third set as the Fire looked unstoppable on the court as a unit. After taking a 4-3 lead in the final set, SEU never relinquished the lead to the Screaming Eagles.

Postlethwaite recorded a team-leading 34 assists versus Toccoa Falls. Kaczmarek posted a team-best 13 digs.
