Box Score FOLEY, Ala.—A goal just 1:19 into Southeastern's national quarterfinal game was all seventh-seeded Spring Arbor needed to upset the No. 2 Fire.
A perfectly headed ball set up Madison Marshall for her third goal of the tournament on a breakaway that was shot from the left wing to the far post for the game's only tally.
Spring Arbor (15-2-1) controlled the first half, outshooting the Fire 7-2.
Holly Eddins kept the Fire in the game, making three of her four saves in the first half
In the second half, Southeastern started getting some opportunities and outshot the Cougars 6-3 in the second 45 minutes. The Fire also had two corner kick chances, but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Fire appeared to have tied the game with 80 seconds remaining on a ball just under the crossbar shot by
Jennifer Luna on a pass from
Naira Lopez, but Lopez was ruled offsides.
Southeastern finished the season with a 17-2-1 overall record.
