Lakeland, Fla.- The women's tennis team moved to 5-5 on the year today after winning 6-1 over the Warner University Royals.
The Fire started off hot after winning their doubles matchups to go up 1-0. After a Royals forfeit, the Fire went up by two over the Royals which would be followed by Priscilla Baptista's fifth win on the season after taking down her opponent 6-2 and 6-1. The Fire then lengthened the gap to four with
Beatrice Letizia earning her seventh win of the season (6-0, 6-2).
Gabby Marshall brought the score to 5-0 after downing her competitor by as score of 6-0 in both sets.
Angelique Myrtil also picked up a win after winning both sets by scores of 6-2. The last match of the day went in favor of the Royals when
Nadezda Bijelic fell in three sets (0-6, 7-5, 11-9) but the Fire were able to walk away with the 6-1 victory.
The women will take on another Sun Conferenece competitor in Ave Maria on Monday in Lakeland at 1 p.m.
