LAKELAND, Fla.—A tiebreaker win at No. 3 Doubles set the Fire up for a non-conference victory over Spring Arbor Monday afternoon.
Winning the doubles point and four singles matches gave the Fire a 5-2 win over the Cougars to improve to 2-2 on the season.
Southeastern won 6-4 at No. 2 Doubles to even the doubles score at one, then
Abigail Damon and Kishaunda Romain won the tiebreaker 7-5 at No. 3 to give the Fire a 1-0 lead heading to singles play.
Gabby Marshall and Damon both won their singles matches in straight sets, then
Beatrice Letizia bounced back from a 6-4 loss in the first to win the second before her opponent retired.
Priscila Baptista also came back from a first set loss to win 7-6 (7-4), 10-7 to come away with the win.
Southeastern returns to action on Wednesday against No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan at 1 p.m.
