NEW ORLEANS—Southeastern University Track and Field coaches
Nick Dodson and
Chester Hightower were honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association when the organization released their 2021 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year.
Dodson was named the South Region Men's Coach of the Year. During this indoor season, the Fire won the first Sun Conference Indoor Championship and moved into the USTFCCCA National Rating Index Top 10. A total of 10 athletes won Sun Conference Indoor championships this season and eight will be competing at the NAIA Indoor National Championships next week.
Hightower was selected as the South Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year for his work in developing the Fire sprint group to one of the best in the NAIA. SEU swept the podium at the indoor conference meet in the 60 Meters and 200 Meters, and in total scored 57 points.
The women's team will send nine athletes to national next week, including three sprint athletes.
The NAIA Indoor Nationals will take place in Yankton, S.D. starting March 4
th.
