RENO, Nev.—Southeastern had won wrestler place during its first appearance at the Reno Tournament of Champions, featuring some of the top college wrestling programs at all levels.
Silva went 5-1 in the 157-pound bracket with his lone loss coming to Isaiah Crosby of Oregon State. The sophomore also defeated American's Antonio Segura and Cal Poly's Tyler Avila.
Blake Rypel went 2-2 in the 184-pound bracket with three of his four matches against Division I opponents.
Isaac Crowell won four matches in the blood round after dropping his first match and eliminated two Cal Baptist wrestlers.
Gage Braun won three matches in the 197-pound bracket, beating opponents from Cal Poly and Utah Valley. At 285,
Jesse Pryor won three matches in the consolation round with two pins.
Stephen Kelle won his first two matches against wrestlers from Pacific and San Francisco State.
As a team, the Fire were 14
th in the field scoring 45 points. The Fire will return to action in January at the NWCA National Team Duals in Louisville.
