LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern will look to increase its seven-game win streak with three home games this week before heading to Christmas Break.
The Fire are now 11-1 on the season and are coming off a 65-60 win over No. 23 Loyola and a 92-51 win over LSU-Alexandria.
Angela Perry was named The Sun Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season after racking up 34 points against the Wolf Pack and added 22 points in the win over LSUA.
Perry is 16
th nationally in scoring at 20.3 points per game and averages 7.7 rebounds per game. As a team, SEU leads the nation in 3-point shooting at 39.9% and are fourth in threes made per game at 10.7.
On Tuesday, the Fire will host Tabor, which is receiving votes in the coaches' poll. The Bluejays are 9-3 on the season with losses to Northwestern, which is receiving votes, No. 8 Sterling, and on the road against Avila. Zoe Shieldnight is the top scorer at 10.8 points per game.
Southeastern will host its Christmas Classic on Thursday and Friday, welcoming Talladega and Goshen along with Bryan. The Fire will take on Talladega Thursday and Goshen Friday.
Talladega is also receiving votes and comes in with a 12-1 record with its lone loss by six in overtime to Tennessee Southern. The Tornadoes average 13.1 steals per game which is 16
th most nationally with Tierra Tullis averaging three herself per game. Sydni Tears is the leading scorer at better than 16 points per game.
Goshen has won back-to-back games against Blackburn and Spring Arbor after a 14-point loss at Indiana Wesleyan. Taniece Chapman averages 14.3 points per game for the Maple Leafs. This will be the first meeting for the Fire and Goshen since November 11, 2016 when SEU won 86-55 at Goshen which was coming off of a national semifinal appearance and
Tim Hays was making his debut on the Fire bench.
