LAKELAND, Fla.- The Southeastern University volleyball team opens postseason play this week in the Sun Conference Tournament Quarterfinal match against the College of Coastal Georgia at home on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

After finishing the regular season with a record of 21-13 and 7-7 in conference play, the Fire come into the tournament as the number four seed and will to get back into the win column after ending the regular season with back-to-back losses to Webber International (3-2) and receiving votes St. Thomas (3-1). As a team, the Fire outhit the Mariners with a 12.74 kill per set average and a .224 hitting percentage. Freshman
Sandy Cao ranks 5th nationally in kills with 456 and 8th nationally in kills per set with 4.26 while freshman setter Alexandra Poslethwaite ranks No. 15 nationally in assists with 1077 and recently became the first person since 2007 to record 1000 assists for the Fire. Senior
Jordyn Stiger captains the Fire defense and leads the team in blocks with 76.

Coastal Georgia ended the regular season 22-7 and 7-7 in conference play, claiming the fifth seed in the tournament and are coming off of a 3-2 loss to Keiser University. The Mariners average 11.73 kills per set and a .209 hitting percentage while 2.58 service aces per set highlights their offensive statistics. Junior Giovana Lopez leads the Mariners with 362 kills and averages 3.93 kills per set. Rebecca Brown has registered 354 assists through 24 sets played while Anabella Jaramillo leads the team in blocks with 60.

The last meeting between these two teams took place earlier this season on October 27
th when the Fire swept the Mariners 3-0 to snap a seven game losing streak against the Mariners.
