Fire Cruise to 3-0 after Victory over Barons

LAKELAND, FLA. – The Southeastern University Men's basketball cruised to their third win of the season tonight as they defeated the Brewton-Parker Barons 92-63.

The Fire got off to a hot start taking a commanding 22-9 lead within the first eight minutes of play after a big 3-pointer from Mykhalio Yagodin. Yagodin had momentum going early as that would mark his second three of the night and accounting for nine points. Fire continued to keep their foot on the gas as they continued to extend the lead all the way up until the half 48-21.

Southeastern at the half, dominated the boards with 28 rebounds to the Barons 11 and shooting 57.6% from the field to BPC's 23.1%. Riley Minix at the half had ten points and 11 rebounds, followed by Mykhalio Yagodin with nine points.

The Fire came out the half, continuing to score efficiently and led by as many as 46 points with five minutes remaining in the game. The Barons played hard all the way to the end cutting the deficit to 29 as the Fire closed out the victory 92-63.

SEU shot 49.3% from the field, 28.1% from 3-point land, and 68% from the free throw line. Minix finished with a double-double, leading the fire in scoring and rebounds with 18 points and 14 rebounds, adding four assists. Sam Brown also recorded a double-double off the bench with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Fire will return to action next week Saturday, November 13th against Ave Maria at The Furnace at 4 P.M.
