Box Score LAKELAND, Fla- The 7-1 Southeastern University women's basketball team ended the SEU Thanksgiving Tournament 1-1 after defeating Bemidji State University in an exhibition tonight by a score of 81-76.

The Fire opened the contest with a 6-0 run and maintained the lead for the entirety of the first quarter despite the Beavers tying the game two different times.
Jamya Rogers closed the first quarter with four consecutive points to help the Fire advance their lead to 24-15 after the first 10 minutes. The Fire took advantage of a 3-14 effort from the field by Beavers and answered with a 10-17 effort.

The second quarter lent the Beavers their first lead of the match after opening the quarter with12 unanswered points in the first three minutes to go ahead 26-24. The third three pointer of the quarter by the Beavers would advance that lead but the Fire battled back to regain the lead after a
Rebecca Cook layup and four more Rogers points.
Tahanee Bennell helped the Fire build on the momentum with a basket from beyond the arch which was followed by another three pointer by
Angela Perry to send the Fire into the locker room with a 42-38 lead.

SEU began to pull away in the third half after six unanswered in the first three minutes.
Marta Aranda gave the Fire the first double digit lead of the contest with a three point shot as the Fire went up 51-41 with 7:18 remaining in the third quarter. A 60% field goal percentage for the Fire aided in the 65-56 lead going into the final 10 minutes of play.

Two made free throws and two three pointers put the Beavers back in the game as they decreased the Fire deficit to 78-76 with 27 seconds remaining in regulation. The late game push by the Beavers would come up empty after three made free throws by Bennell secured the Fire's 81-76 victory.

Perry ended the night as the Fire's leading scorer with 21 points and eight rebounds while Bennell ended the night with 15 points and five rebounds. Rogers ended with a season high 20 points.
