Fire Extinguish the Mariners

BRUNSWICK, Ga – The No. 5 Southeastern University women's basketball team remained undefeated in their Sun Conference matchups as they toppled the Coastal Georgia Mariners 85-64.

The Fire trailed by two at the end of the first quarter 25-23 as the Mariners were shooting 53% from the field and 55% from 3-point land. The Fire continued to score on the offensive side in the second quarter but added onto their defensive effort by limiting the Mariners to shooting 33% from the field and 20% from beyond the arc.

Outside of the first quarter, the Fire outscored the Mariners in each quarter following and even limiting Coastal Georgia to eight points total in the third quarter.

As a team, the Fire shot 47.7% from the field, 38.5% from the 3-point line, and 72.2% from the free throw line.

Graduate student Angela Perry caught the hot hand early and remained ablaze as she finished with game-high 31 points and 10 rebounds.

The Fire continue Sun Conference play this weekend as they remain in the Peach State as they take on the Thomas University Nighthawks in Thomasville on Saturday. Tipoff is at 2 P.M. EST
