Volleyball Prepares to Close Regular Season

LAKELAND, FLA. - The Southeastern University Fire Volleyball team (20-11, TSC 7-5) recently went 2-0 in their last match-ups against Coastal Georgia and Florida College. 


Alexandra Postlethwaite led the way receiving Sun Conference Setter of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks. This is the freshman's fifth honor of the season. Postlethwaite had 50 assists, 23 digs, and two service aces last week becoming the first player in the program since 2007 to record 1,000 assists in a season. 

The Fire are set to return to action this week against Johnson University (11/2, 5:15 P.M.), Webber International (11/3, 7 P.M.), and St. Thomas (11/6, 2 P.M.). 

The Johnson University Suns are currently 5-10 on the year, coming off of a 3-0 victory over Pensacola Christian. Players to watch for the Suns are: Johnally Sosa, who led the team in kills last week with 16, and Emi Weekly who led the team in both digs (15) and blocks (two). 

The Webber International Warriors currently sit at 11-14 and 2-10 in the Sun Conference following their previous loss against St. Thomas. Leading the way for WIU is Bailey Sikkema with a team high of 197 kills and Amanda Vega who leads the team in assists with 423. 

The St. Thomas University Bobcats currently sit at 19-6, 10-2 TSC and are currently ranked first in The Sun Conference. The Bobcats have won their last six matches with their last win coming from a 3-0 outing with Florida College. Players to note for STU are: Tyran Chenault, the team leader in kills with 237, averaging .340. Kyleigh Beecham, leads the team in assists with 549, averaging 6.17 a/s , and 21 service aces. Lastly, Bianca Grassi who leads the team in digs with 479 and averaging 5.44 digs per set.
