The Fire (13-9) went 2-1 in their match-ups last week, sweeping Trinity Baptist and Johnson University in the tri-match that SEU hosted before dropping their Sun Conference match against Coastal Georgia.
Sandy Cao led the way last week by leading the team in kills with 29, hitting .404, and averaging 4.14 kills per set. On the defensive side, Chapel Cunningham recorded six blocks while Holly Kaczmarek defended the back row with 39 digs averaging 4.33 digs per set. Alexandra Postlethwaite led the team in assists with 59 averaging, 8.43 assists per set.
Fire look to bounce back this week and regain momentum as they are set to continue conference play at home against Webber International on Wednesday, October 6th and St. Thomas University on Saturday, October 9th.
The Webber International Warriors currently sit at 9-9 (0-5 TSC) coming off a 3-0 loss to St. Thomas University.
Players to watch for the Warriors: Nadia Reid who leads the team in kills with 146, Kiersten Tisdale who leads the team in digs with 248, and Amanda Vega who leads the team in assists with 308.
The 10-5 (4-1 TSC) St. Thomas Bobcats, which are currently second place in The Sun Conference, are coming off a 3-0 victory against the Warriors and look to carry that momentum into the Furnace against SEU.
Players to watch for the Bobcats: Tyran Chenault who leads the team in kills with 170 and hitting .305 and Kyleigh Beecham who leads the team in assists with 361 averaging 6.69 assists per set.
