LAKELAND, FLA. - The Southeastern University Fire Volleyball team (18-11, 5-6 TSC) went 1-1 in a pair of Sun Conference match-ups last week, dropping the game 3-1 to Ave Maria, and sweeping Florida Memorial 3-0, who were ranked No.1 in the conference.
Alexandra Postlethwaite lead the way receiving Sun Conference Setter of the Week honors with 84 assists, averaging 11.86 assists per set, and adding 20 digs as well. Sandy Cao, showing great offensive and defensive play with, 34 kills, 32 digs, and three service aces.
Fire ready to return to action this week against Coastal Georgia (10/27 at 7 P.M.) at home before heading on the road to Temple Terrace, Fla. to face Florida College on October 28th at 7 P.M.
The Coastal Georgia University Mariners currently sit at 21-4 (6-4 TSC) coming off of a 3-2 loss to St. Thomas University.
Key players for the Mariners are: Giovana Larregui Lopez, who currently leads the team in kills with 316, hitting .309, and averaging 4.05 kills per set. Seliann Rodriguez, a double threat that leads the team in digs with 201, and also has 191 kills on the year, averaging 2.65 kills per set.
In the previous meeting between SEU and CCG in Brunswick, Ga. the Mariners came out on top 3-1. Southeastern hit .132 and recorded four blocks.
The Florida College Falcons currently sit at 17-14, coming off of a 3-0 victory against Lincoln Christian University.
Players to watch for the Falcons are: Emilie Selvidge who lead the team in assists with 564 and Emma Noskey, the team leader in kills with 315.
